The 10 Commandments of Goal-setting
By Paul | March 18, 2008
Have you asked the Lord what His goals are for your small group for the last few months of this season? If you have, keep placing them before Him and taking the action steps He has directed you to do. If not, here are some guidelines for goal-setting (which may help you in your work/family life as well):
by Gary Blair
1: Thou shalt be decisive! It’s more about goal choices than abilities.
2: Thou shalt stay focused! Focus creates a powerful force: goal power.
3: Thou shalt write down thy goals! Writing challenges thought.
4: Thou shalt plan thoroughly! You can virtually guarantee success in any endeavor if you know who you are, what you want, where you are going, how you will get there, and what you will do once you arrive.
5: Thou shalt involve others! It is your prime responsibility to acquire useful knowledge from others and to apply it appropriately.
6: Thou shalt welcome failure! It is essential to success.
7: Thou shalt take purposeful action! You’ve got to roll up your sleeves and do the work that needs to be done.
8: Thou shalt inspect what thou expect! Inspecting expectations allows you to know what you are looking for before you actually see it.
9: Thou shalt reward thyself! A goal, once achieved, symbolizes commitment, concentration, and courage, and it deserves to be rewarded.
10: Thou shalt maintain personal integrity! It is the countdown clock of your goal.
