The Venue Visioneer
By Paul | January 25, 2008
Coming around the “learning curve” of assimilating into Bethel’s staff, I pinned venue director Tim Phillips to the wall with 5 questions so that we could get to know him and his role better. Notice how he takes a crack at me right away!
1. What makes you excited about your new position at Bethel?
Besides getting to work with you, Paul, I would have to say that the opportunity to see God mobilize His people in the area of West Pasco excites me most. Being part of a team of people using our strengths and gifts together is pretty much up high on the list, too.
2. What are your priorities in the first month of your ministry?
Praying for God to show us the fruit and the giants of the land is a big part of these early days in planning for the satellite. The fruit is definitely seeing people in West Pasco being introduced and won to Christ. Determining the who, where and when keeps my days full.
3. What do you think your biggest challenges will be?
The biggest challenge right now is defining the “where will it be?” question. West Pasco being a newly developed area provides little existing structures for a church to move in to. This challenge make it exciting because we’ll look back later and be amazed at what God provided, most likely at the perfect time!
4. Tell us about your personality and leadership style.
I enjoy working with people to take on new challenges and desire to build relationships within the team. To accomplish this I believe it is essential to set a goal out in front and engage each person’s gifting, abilities and passion to complete it. All that said, I work to stay organized, creative, resourceful, and have a great time doing it.
5. Just for fun, what are your personal favorite bands/musical artists and why?
My favorite band is the one God threw me into to play with here at Bethel. Ben, Aaron P., Adam, Ryan and Aaron S. have awesome hearts for God and are great to work with, and very creative. There are several artists that I appreciate for their passionate communication: Charlie Hall, Tim Hughes, Matt Redman, and Keith Cookson (who’s that guy?). Coldplay, U2, Bruce Hornsby are a few that I enjoy listening to as well.
