Meet Bethel’s New Music Director
By Paul | December 7, 2007
Keith Cookson is the newest member of the Bethel team, coming on board as music director in January. Read his philosophy for leading a ministry team:
1) Stoking our relationship with Christ.
It says in John 15 that we can’t have a fruitful ministry without learning to abide in Him and His Word.
2) Keeping the unity at all costs
Where there is unity, God commands a blessing. I believe that we need to keep short accounts with each other, and always over-communicate expectations.
3) Keeping accountable to one another, and developing a Godly character.
It has been said that your character is the cradle to your gifting. Always walk in integrity, so the gifts God has given you will stand the test of time.
4) Value teamwork.
Everyone has a unique gift that supplies to the body of Christ. Value other people’s roles; the Kingdom of God is not built on superstars, but on servants that recognize the bigger picture.
5) Value excellence
God deserves our best; everything we do for Him should represent our best efforts.
6) Relevance and innovation
We should always seek to be relevant to those around us and not afraid to do new creative things that express God’s love.
7) Reproducing and developing leaders
Jesus modeled that we must develop people. When we make an investment in people, we make an investment in furthering the Kingdom of God.
8) Submission to leadership
Submission to authority is God’s idea, and we are supposed to be submitted to those God has put us under.
