Small Group Thankfulness
By Paul | November 24, 2007
Some leaders were asked what they were specifically thanking God for doing in their small group in the first couple months of group. First responders said:
- One of the guys in the group shared their testimony with us. (Kip McDowell)
- We are thankful to the Lord for the smooth transition from one GROW group to two. (Brad Johnson)
- God is knitting our group together so we already seem like a family. We have a very willing group as far as doing for others. (Claudia Burk)
- Our group did the Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Christmas Child Shoe Boxes. We met as a group and assembled 18 boxes and then I took down the next day. It was a great time of fellowship and the kids got a real kick out of helping with the boxes. I’m thankful that we have a wonderful group of hard working folks. Their servant attitudes are contagious and our group is just a joy to be a part of. The families have been very sacrificial in helping with getting the Early Childhood wing painted (it needed a little lift, since we opened the new part). (Cary/Sherry Crawford)
- What is not a praise in Financial Peace University? So many are talking about how they are finally winning in their finances. I hear stories every week about little things that just “happen” that are helping them get on track themselves, or allowing them to bless someone else. One really great thing is that one of my people had not been coming to church for years. He started coming two weeks ago, stood up last Sunday, wants to be baptized and wants to become a member. I LOVE THIS MINISTRY! (Melissa Otto)
- 1. Studying Prophecy and growing in the knowledge of it. Has blessed us to grow closer to HIM.
2. Praying as a group and individually during the week and coming together to share. Tremors have been reduced (Parkinson’s disease), guests have come from our neighborhood, family members have been blessed, understanding of God’s Word and more.
3. The results of Jack’s biopsy came out negative.
4. Kathy’s recoup from knee surgery and nerve surgery have greatly reduced the chronic pain and tremors and increased her mobility. (Joe/Jane Kassuba) - I guess the highlight of our group, from my perspective, is that we have seen a real potential for our GROW group to bond as friends, not just as GROW group members living independent lives. Four out of the six families have moved to the Tri-Cities in the last year and a half, leaving them in need of a new network of friends. Already the ladies have all gotten together on a separate night to scrapbook and plan to do it monthly, if possible. Everyone has really enjoyed getting to know the others. (Carol Dunfee)
- Thanksgiving, for a generous spirit among the group. (Ross/Pam Dunfee)
- We got to go to another church to watch one group member’s teen daughter get baptized. (Glen/Annette McClendon)
