The PAPA Prayer in Pursuing Jesus
By Paul | September 26, 2007
by Larry Crabb
P resent yourself to God (what’s going on right now inside of you)
A ttend to Who He is
P urge yourself of anything interfering with your relationship with Him)
A pproach Him (what’s on your heart to bring before Him)
This prayer was meaningful to Pastor Dave Hilliard while on sabbatical this summer. He was also inspired by Art Azurdia’s key Scripture at LCE: Hebrews 12:1-3. Reminders for us leaders to:
1. Pursue purity.
2. Avoid entanglements.
3. Persevere through suffering.
Key questions:
1. How are you pursuing a deeper relationship with Jesus through the time you set asise to spend with Him each day (e.g.prayer life, Bible reading, study, meditation)?
2. What does pursuing a deeper relationship with Jesus look like in our “off” time? What is hindering your pursuit? What is entangling you in the world?
