In Step with the Staff in Step with the Spirit
By Paul | July 13, 2007
Keeping you leaders in the loop (hence, the loop photo) with information from this past week’s all-staff meeting:
- The staff is memorizing and discussing Psalm 103 (so if you see us you can ask us to recite the first couple verses), as part of John Stone’s encouragement with M & M’s: memorization and meditation. You want to memorize it with us?
- Rejoice in:
- the 60 kids who composed the first Lifelinks golf league at Bethel, linking character with golf, and really bringing families together around this sport.
- Careforce LifeKeys training continues on Monday nights for 50 people wanting to better facilitate small groups, especially in the Growth and Healing ministry. There will be one G & H class this fall: “Search for Life”, for all to attend before going to another class.
- The July 4 picnic was the site of 31 baptisms from Bethel along with 5 from the Hispanic church who joined us!
- Upcoming things to pray about:
- The new hire process continues for the student ministries and music ministries director positions; please continue to pray for the committees reviewing applications.
- Bethel Big Night Out is next Thursday, July 19, with dinner at 6:00, drama/video humorous vignettes/improv with refreshments at 7:00, and dessert at 8:15. Great place to connect the disconnected or unchurched.
- 65 people attended the venue meeting last month to explore involvement in either the Wired (more upbeat), Unplugged (more acoustic), or Live (what you are used to now) worship formats. They are tentatively due to launch on Oct 14 after the Sept sermon series concludes.
- A Sports Camp for Rowena Chess students is being planned by the sports ministry for later this month, and Upward Soccer is forming teams and training coaches for the start of the season in a few weeks. 350 kids are registered!
- The God-lover retreat is gearing up for the Aug 17-18 leader version of this experiencial pursuit of Jesus at Camp Ghormley. The deadline for sign-up is July 31.
- Teams continue to scurry about, readying for the thematic goal launch this fall, of Pursuing a Deeper Relationship with Jesus. Kelli Templeton reviewed the 5 areas of focus: worship (Chip Roebuck), Tools (John Stone), Staff (Dave Dawson), Small group leader training (Paul Casey), and Other experiences (Dave Hilliard).
- Small group leaders, please calendar September 14-15 for the Leadership Community Experience: the big event of the year for all Bethel leaders to hear the vision, be inspired by special speaker Art Azurdia, and get practical training for the year of small group leadership (and of course a great dinner on Friday night).
