Learning from a Rock Star

By Paul | April 5, 2007

bono.jpgYeah, it sounds weird, but Pastor Bill Hybels of Willow Creek Community Church became friends with Bono of the famed U2 group over the past few years, and he was chosen to be interviewed in by Bill in front of the Leadership Summit last year (which a large group of Bethel leaders were attending).

Why? Because Bono has a huge heart for the poor, especially AIDS-ravaged India, and he has been leading a charge against poverty at concerts and his web site www.one.org.  Through the interview you see that Bono identifies with Christ, and tells his story of his love for Christ but distaste for Christians and the Church in general. And how when the Church got active in helping attack poverty, fulfilling Jesus’ commands to give to the poor, it changed him. Now he desires to partner with the Church, using his superstar status as a platform for serving God.

This interview is available for borrowing for care group use through Paul Casey. You’ll see clips of his U2 fundraising music concerts mixed with a heart-to-heart interview and challenge with Bill Hybels.  It has the chance for opening your heart up for giving to those who need it the most.
