Consider These Relationship-Builder Activities

The “R” in GROW reminds us that disciples are Relationship-Builders. Here are some practical activities for leading your group in that aspect:
- Plug into a group member’s needs as soon as it becomes apparent (i.e. giving time or money to help out)
- Matching people up with accountability partners in the group.
- Gal/guy separate prayer times
- Emphasizing One-to-One Discipling relationships
- Connecting people in their passion area to a group activity
- Planning an activity outside the group meeting time
- Email prayer requests to each other during the week
- Encourage non-members to work through the Basic Training manual with a member
- Write encouraging notes to each other or to church leaders
- Look for a mentor for yourself, or open yourself up to mentor someone else
- Serve alongside a group in a different season of life
- Confront one another in love
- Be transparent
- Watch each other’s kids to give people a break or a date
- Have everyone share their personal testimonies
- Abide by the Matthew 18 Principle for offenses
- Stop divisive conversations; direct people to proper channels
- Attend a marriage or parenting event/class together
