What’s News @ Bethel - First week of 2007

By dave.stone | January 3, 2007

What are the Youth up to? Life Transformation Groups!
An LTG is a group of 2-3 people who meet weekly to confess sin, pray for friends who don’t know Christ, and who commit to filling themselves with a large amount of God’s Word each week. Over 100 high school students and adult leaders have signed up to be a part of this! These groups have increased a sense of mission within our ministry as we’ve heard several stories of students seeking to expand Christ’s Kingdom by sharing about him and loving people well! For more info, call or email John Stone.

N.O.W. Vision: Year 2 Begins Soon
Right around the corner, Bethel will head into our second year of the NOW Campaign. An update on where the church has progressed and where we are heading along the lines of Next Generation, Our Community, and Worldwide will be scheduled for February.

L3: If You are Going to be the Lead Dog, Be Prepared for the View
The Leader Learning Lunch for January 19 at noon in the fellowship hall will feature Beverly Weber of the United Way in this area, bringing her expertise to anyone with influence on others in the business or non-profit community. It’s an INVITE opportunity! $10.

It’s Got a Name Now: The Leadership Briefing
Our small group leader training meetings (every other month) now officially have a name, thanks to a table of leaders at the November meeting. The next Leadership Briefing is Thursday night, January 25, and you won’t want to miss the transformational teaching on prayer from Joseph Christopherson, among some other creative, interactive experiences on leading transformational groups.

Technology and the Kingdom of God at Bethel
Recently the directors at Bethel got together with IT specialist Dave Stone to dream a little about the future of how technology can enhance our ministry in this day and age. Bethel’s web site (www.bethel-church.org) patterns and enhancements, podcasting, and blogging were all topics on the table for consideration and development.

For those striving to be Obedient Followers… (the O in the GROW disciple identifier)
Reflect on this question, “How often do you consult and surrender your plans and schedule to God? Based on your checkbook and calendar, rank your current priorities.”

Quote for this week
“Tension is essential to growth. Difficulty is the chisel that shapes your soul.” –Howard Hendricks

Prayin’ with the Pastor: Saturday nights
Every Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. you can join Pastor Dave and some other elders, leaders, and members to pray for God’s blessing on Bethel Church’s Sunday services. Spreading a prayer covering over the building is one way to resist the Evil One, and call on the Spirit to do His work among us.

Sunday Focus: Baptism
Next Sunday features the Power of Prayer, led by Joseph Christopherson. Lift up a prayer for him as he seeks the Lord in preparation of the message.
